Wheel Blacks Paralympic Qualifier Tournament - Day Five

Day 5: Challenges and Resilience 🏉
Day five provided a much-needed break for our team, allowing us to have precious moments with our families and recharge our spirits. While some ventured out to enjoy quality time with loved ones, others explored the offerings of Upper Hutt, soaking in the beauty of Aotearoa New Zealand.
As the team indulged in these well-deserved moments of respite, I remained behind to confront the multitude of challenges that had arisen in the lead-up to the tournament.
Transparency is key, and I want to provide you with a raw glimpse into the background of this event—the good, the bad, and the ugly. We've encountered numerous obstacles, particularly regarding accommodation, which demanded relentless determination to ensure the best possible experience for my players and staff. Hats off to the team at the New Zealand Campus of Innovation and Sport for their effort in making this a smooth process. While progress has been made, there are still hurdles to overcome, such as addressing hydration concerns during gameplay.
Despite the arduous nature of the day, I found unity and resilience in our team. Through countless meetings and discussions, we tackled each issue head-on, unwavering in our commitment to surmount every obstacle in our path.
As evening came, we gathered for a dinner, where each member shared the highlights of their day. It served as a reminder of the unwavering bond that propels us forward, even in the face of adversity.
Tomorrow brings the Powhiri and a warm-up game, marking the next chapter in our journey.
Stay tuned as we continue to navigate the highs and lows of competition with determination and resilience.
