What’s happening at Parafed Auckland next week?

Following the Level 2 announcement, that means a few changes for our standard programmes! Check out the key details below:

Disabled Surfers Association – Have a Go Day

When: Saturday 27th February (10.00am – 1.00pm)

Where: South Piha Beach

What: This is a free event for all ages and abilities who would like to try surfing. The Disabled Surfers Association are putting on this ‘Have a go day’ at South Piha Beach. Lunch will be provided. You must register to ensure we are able to contact trace and meet Level 2 requirements

Who: All ages and abilities welcome!

Halberg Games Parent Info Zoom Session:

When: Wednesday 24th February, 5.30pm – 6.00pm

What: First time attending the Halberg Games? Jump on our zoom info session to ask any questions you may have about the process and the weekend itself! Kids are welcome to join and meet one another before our first social event.

Inclusive After School Club:

  • What: Our inclusive afterschool programme is all about developing fundamental movement skills and introducing different sports in a fun, inclusive environment. No two sessions are the same!

  • Who: For children with any disability or impairment. Can be physical, visual, learning or intellectual. Most suitable for 5-11 years. Siblings are welcome too!

  • Cost: Free!!

    Stonefields School:

    • Monday Afternoons, starting 22nd February

    • 3:45pm- 4:30pm

    • 81 Tihi Street, Stonefield, Auckland

    Mt Roskill Primary:

    • Wednesday Afternoon, starting 24th February

    • 3:15pm-4:00pm

    • Frost Road, Mt Roskill, Auckland

Swimming:

What: We have now reached capacity in our 8 week swimming programme!

Where: CLM The Bays, 135 Morrin Road, St Johns

When: Saturday 27th February, 11.00am – 12.00pm

Covid Guidelines: For those who have already registered under Level 2 guidelines only one parent per child will be able to attend the sessions. We also require RSVP for attendance in order to ensure contact tracing requirements are met.

Table Tennis:

What: It’s not too late to join Table Tennis for Term 1 with our second session happening this week! The sessions are designed to suit all abilities with a clear pathway for performance.

Where: Manurewa Table Tennis Club, 3 McVilly Road, Manurewa

When: Saturday 27th February, 12.30pm – 2.30pm
Who:
All ages and abilities.

Cost: $25 members, $30 non-members. 

Covid Guidelines: We will require all members to have registered and rsvp’d under Level 2 guidelines. This will also mean no double matches to ensure social distancing requirements are met. Sanitizer will be readily available.

Strength & Conditioning:

South & North locations held weekly. Consisting of different bodyweight and resistance exercises and varying intensity.

Open to ages 8+ and all abilities.

South: Every Wednesday, 4.30pm – 5.30pm at Auckland Spinal Rehabilitation Unit Gym, 30 BAirds Road, Otara

North: Every Friday, 4.15pm – 5.15pm at Massey University Recreation Centre Fitness Studio, 5 University Ave, Albany

Covid Guidelines: Under Level 2 our numbers are restricted for the Strength & Conditioning programme meaning RSVP is essential to secure your spot.

Boccia Programme.

We have some awesome news. We will have Boccia in two locations this term, South & Central!

  • What: Boccia is a precision ball sport, related to bowls and pétanque. It’s one of the most inclusive sports in the world. Our programme is designed to develop the skills of all players, new and old!

  • Who: All ages and ability.

  • Cost: $20 members / $25 non members

  • Where:

South

  • Manurewa Table Tennis Club, 3 McVilly Road, Manurewa

  • Thursday afternoons from 25th February, 4.30pm – 6.00pm

Central

  • Blind Low Vision NZ, Awhina House, 4 Mansell Road, Parnell

  • Tuesday afternoons from 23rd February, 4.30pm – 6.00pm

Covid Guidelines: Social distancing requirements with space between players. Individuals are to use only one set of balls for the whole session. Registrations and RSVP required to ensure contact tracing.
