Where it all began: Gabby Wright

At Parafed Auckland, we’re dedicated to supporting our members and athletes to achieve their sporting goals and have a go at different activities to keep fit and healthy. But it’s not about us, it’s about you!

Today, we’d like to share Gabby Wright’s experience at the Halberg Games and her journey with Parafed Auckland.

She competed at the 2019 Halberg Games and absolutely loved making loads of friends and trying out different sports. This was the time she fell in love with Wheelchair Racing and hasn’t looked back ever since. Gabby reckons the 2021 Halberg Games will be a nostalgic experience for her because she’s come a long way since 2019 by competing at several Athletics Competitions.

Gabby first hired one of our racing chairs because at the time she wasn’t sure if Wheelchair Racing was for her. We were more than happy for her to give it a go before she fully committed to it. We’re so happy to see her not only enjoying it now but also coaching junior athletes. Gaby says “without Parafed Auckland, I might not even be doing this sport and I appreciate everything I have achieved because of their ongoing support”

Gabby is really excited to compete alongside other talented athletes at the 2021 Halberg Games this year. We wish her all the best and continue to support her sporting goals.
